The Nebraska Golf Classic, a banquet and golf event, took place on July 22-23. The event began with a VIP reception, during which keynote speaker Ndamukong Suh mingled and autographed pictures for attendees. The festivities then moved to the Windsor Ballroom in the outstanding Embassy Suites La Vista where 630 guests bid on silent auction items and sampled the various specialty drink stations. The live auction, which took place following dinner, allowed attendees access to events and experiences that are generally unavailable to the public, including Indy 500 penthouse tickets, access to the Home Depot College Football Awards Show and trips to Napa, Florida, Seattle and New York.

Hot weather, celebrity golfers, and exceptional food set the tone for the golf outing held at Quarry Oaks the following day. After a full breakfast buffet and a few shots on the driving and putting ranges with Suh, the tournament began.  The golfers enjoyed crab cake sandwiches and Bang-Bang shrimp from Bonefish Grill and Omaha Steaks hotdogs while playing the picturesque course. After 18 holes, they made their way inside for post-play massages and an awards ceremony.  The event surpassed its fundraising goal, netting $225,000 for disease research.
